Wake, butterfly –, HD digital video in constructed viewing platform, 2019.
Housed in a half-open tent, Wake, butterfly – is a video installation work that invites the audience to dwell in the space existing between physical reality and the mind. Influenced by classic children’s animations and by the haiku of Japanese Daoist monk Matsuo Basho, Wake, butterfly – contemplates the pockets of beauty easily noticed but seldom thought upon in our everyday, adult lives. This work is part of my ongoing exploration of the human experience and how we choose to contemplate, connect with, and live within the physical world.
Exhibited at Gaffa Gallery, In Plein Light (sponsored by City of Sydney), November 2021.
